UPDATE #3 (12/27): The event is now FULL! Wow, that was fast! I am maintaining a waitlist to fill cancellation spots, email Samantha to be added to the waitlist.
Date: Saturday, January 11, 2020 – Rain or Shine!
Time: We start running dogs at 9:00 am. Please arrive by 8:30 am to sign in and air your dogs. Plan on staying through the early afternoon.
Location: CRTA Denverton Training Grounds, T7, Suisun City
Cost: No cost for NORCAL GRC Club Members
$10.00 per dog for non-club members
As we do for our club Flyer Days, these ‘rarer’ retriever breeds (Flat Coat Retrievers, Tollers, and Poodles) are welcome to attend.
NOTE: These events are volunteer driven events. When you are not running your dog, you are asked to help with throwing, carrying birds, hauling equipment, etc. If you have a limitation that prevents you from helping in some capacity, PLEASE notify the event organizer prior to the event.
In addition, you MUST sign up in advance for Training Days. Spaces are limited, and will fill quickly.

PLEASE NOTE: Attendance of at least one club training day in previous 6 months is required for future acceptance to Spring 2020 Flyer Day events (unless you are already participating in an established field training program, and have been out training within 30 days of the flyer day).
Due to changes over the last few years in CRTA booking rules as they apply to member clubs’ flyer and training days, we are looking at ways to ensure that ALL teams are given equal time at flyer day events. To help achieve this goal, all dogs attending flyer days are required to be proficient at retrieving dead birds. If your dog is not yet proficient at retrieving dead birds, we ask that you consider whether a (non-flyer) training day is a more appropriate event to attend, where you can get help from other members and take as much time as you need with your dog.
We will hold club training days in October, December, January, and February to encourage as much member participation as possible.

Guest Instructor: Cheryl Baca
Cheryl Baca is a longtime NORCAL GRC member, and a well-respected field trainer, working with teams from the JH to MH level. Cheryl and her dogs have competed at the highest levels of the field game, and she enjoys watching her students develop their teamwork and passion for the sport. We are fortunate to have Cheryl lead a club training day, and attendees are sure to come away with a lot of good information for future training.

Hunt Test Set-ups
Ducks (or bumpers) will be used, land marks and drills only – no water work.
As this is a training day, birds OR bumpers are okay for all marks and drills. Handlers are encouraged to tweak any of the setups to work within their dog’s abilities. If you aren’t sure how to modify a setup, PLEASE ask the guest instructor or another club member for advice. We usually have at least a couple of advanced handlers at our training days, and they are kind enough to share their knowledge and experience with other participants.

NOTE: If you are new to field, and want to come out and see what it’s all about, and perhaps have someone help give your dog exposure to birds, please email Samantha for more information. We want to help you learn about the field game!

This is a NORCAL Golden Retriever Club training day, so there are no guest fees for Denverton CRTA. However, if you are not a Denverton CRTA member, you will need to sign a hold-harmless form. (If you are a member, but have not signed a form this year, you will also need to sign one.) You will find the hold harmless form here.
[spacer height=”10″ class=””]
Please read the first page AND print out the last page, sign and bring with you. We also have the regular sign in sheet and I will have a separate one for us with everyone’s name on it. This separate sign in page is at the kiosk, please find your name on the sign in form, and leave your hold harmless on the clip board behind the sign-in form. If you are a CRTA member, please still sign in on the separate sign-in sheet with your name on it.

Rules
Please stay on the gravel road and do NOT try to drive around puddles on the side of the road. If you get stuck in the mud and have to have a tow truck come, it is very, very, very expensive and AAA will not come out. In addition, you are responsible for costs to repair any damage to the grounds due to your vehicle.
